Bow hunting Deer in Victoria

A bow may be used to hunt all species of deer in Victoria but any bow used must meet the following minimum specifications:

  • A long bow having a draw-weight of not less than 22.5kg at a draw-length of 70cm;

  • A recurved bow having a draw-weight of not less than 22.5kg at a draw-length of 70cm;

  • A compound bow having a peak weight of no less than 22.5 kg;

  • A cross bow having a draw-weight of no less than 36.6kg;

  • Arrows used must have a broad-head with a minimum of two sharpened cutting blades.

from its nocturnal feeding ground

 

Other than a Licence to Hunt Deer in Victoria (a Game Licence) no other licence is required to hunt deer with a bow in Victoria.   

Other game such as rabbit, fox and dingo may also be hunted with a bow in Victoria.
