The
Lakes & Wilderness Region and the adjacent High Country,
which is renowned for its extensive lake system, magnificent
rivers and endless forested mountains, is situated in a
temperate climate zone.
Autumn
(Fall) is magnificent and heralds the beginning of the
hunting season. |
| |
| Winter
at Bairnsdale, the regional centre of the Lakes and Wilderness
region, is mild but winters are much colder in the
areas where Sambar and Fallow are hunted. |

Lakes Entrance, a premier spot for fishing,
is only 35 klms (20 miles) from our Bairnsdale base
|
 |
There is excellent river, lake and big game deep sea fishing,
canoeing, white water rafting, power boating & yachting,
snow skiing (downhill and cross-country), bushwalking, caving
and arts & crafts. Besides
deer and dingoes, possums, gliders, kangaroos, wallabies,
wombats, eastern water dragons (primeval amphibious lizards)
and goannas (1.5 metre laced monitors).
There is also a great diversity of
birds, including kingfishers, sea-eagles, kookaburras,
wrens and lyrebirds, which offer great opportunities for
wildlife photography. |
|
There
is also a modern three cinema movie complex and a variety of
restaurants, hotels and clubs.
