TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I am pleased
to provide this reference for Errol Mason's Sambar Shikar fallow
deer hunts.
I was guided by Errol over four days in late
March 2002 on his fallow deer property.
Endless tracts of forest surround the property
that Errol has hunting rights to and it is simply marvellous
hunting country. Rolling hills that are semi-cleared allow the
glassing of deer from a considerable distance. Once a good buck
is located a careful stalk is planned and then expertly executed
under Errol's guidance.
Over those four days we saw approximately
a dozen or so trophy bucks and perhaps two or three hundred
deer all up. On the third day after a thrilling hour long stalk
I was able to take a huge old buck that had 28 inch antlers.
An added bonus was seeing four yellow/ginger
alpine dingoes which are simply magnificent animals. One morning
we actually watched a dingo work several fallow deer on a distant
ridge, and on another morning my companion was fortunate enough
to bag a magnificent dingo with a three hundred yard shot.
I have been lucky enough to have hunted before
with Errol after sambar deer and as expected the standard of
meals, accommodation and company was first class. I also found
his knowledge of and skill in hunting fallow deer to be excellent
and he took the utmost care in preparing my trophy and the venison
of two young fallow I took for venison.
I have checked his daily rates and trophy
fees and am able to say that they are comparable with fees charged
by other guides. However I would be surprised if Errol's hunts
do not offer much better value for money than other hunts available.
In conclusion I cannot recommend Errol highly
enough. He has an absolute commitment to ensuring that his clients
receive the best possible hunt and hunting experience. This
is reflected in his accommodation, food, equipment, hunting
properties and hunting skill.
