It is without reservation I recommend the services of Errol Mason as a Professional Hunting Guide of Sambar deer.

The quality and variety of habitat within Errol's hunting concessions is reflected in animal density. These densities, combined with Errol's perceptive knowledge of the Sambar's habits ensure his client has a high chance of success.

My primary reason for using Sambar Shikars was to build on skills learnt on unguided hunts. These hunts while yielding some result, left me believing that I was missing several key points in Sambar hunting despite much shoe leather, reading and discussion with other hunters. I found Errol very willing to meet my specific requirement.

I embarked on my first guided hunt (after many years hunting) with extremely high expectations. My main expectation to become a better Sambar hunter was easily exceeded as I quickly realised I had badly underestimated my quarry, thereby overestimating my ability to successfully hunt this animal.

The measure of the success of this hunt was not only the magnificent stag taken during the hunt, but the four undisturbed red deer I observed on my next hunt, using skills and information obtained from Errol - old dogs it seems can learn new tricks after all!
