ABOUT RED DEER
(Cervus elaphus)

Red Deer are the second largest of Australia's six Deer species and a mature stag stands about 120cm at the shoulder and weighs somewhere between 135kg and 160kg. Red Deer are native of Europe and were brought to Australia in the mid 1800s where they quickly adapted to the rugged bushland areas of Queensland in the north and the forested mountains of Victoria in the south where they are entrenched in the Grampians National Park.

Free ranging hunting opportunities and trophy size are very limited.  However Watervalley Game Ranch offers the best Red deer hunting in Australia where literally hundreds of stags will be seen in a few days.
