Vixen Apex Pro Build Quality
Focusing Wheel. The focusing wheel on the Apex Pro performs flawlessly. It is perfectly smooth and just the right firmness to facilitate sharp focusing every time.
Hinge Stiffness. The hinge on the Apex Pro is tight enough so that when you set the interpupillary distance (IPD) for your eyes it remains set.
Steel Twist Up Eye Cups. Twist Up Eye Cups set eye relief. The eye cups on the Apex Pro we distribute are a combination of metal and high quality carbon reinforced plastic so they glide up and down smoothly and are totally reliable. Many binoculars under $1000 have all plastic twist up eye cups which are known to fracture.
Rubber Armouring. Apex Pro binos have durable rubber armouring which ensures silent, non-slip use. Silence is vital when sambar hunting and stories abound of deer spooked by metallic sounds, so you must do everything to eliminate noise from your equipment.
Tripod Adapter. The Apex Pro series is threaded for a featherweight yet extremely strong carbon reinforced plastic tripod adapter which is extremely useful for the 10 x 50 model. Click here for photo and further details.
Objective & Eyepiece Lens Covers. To help protect the expensive coating on the objective and eyepiece, Vixen supplies rubber lens covers.
Ergonomic Design. The design, weight distribution and balance of the Apex Pro binos helps reduce handshake so you see more detail.
Weight & Bulk. Because the Apex pro is built on a rugged, lightweight aluminium frame, the 8 x 42 weigh a mere 705gm (25oz) compared to some other brands of the same specs which weigh around 935gm (33oz). This is 227gm or 8oz less.
The 10 x 50 weigh just 815gm (29oz) compared to 934gm (40oz) for some other brands of the same specs. This reduction of 227gm or 8oz for the 8 x 42 and 312gm (11oz) for the 10 x 50 may not seem much, but by the time you add your rifle, daypack, GPS, knives and other equipment, any unnecessary weight should be avoided.
5 Year Warranty. Vixen Apex Pro binos are covered with a 5 year (conditional) warranty from the date of purchase.
Made in Japan. Vixen Apex Pro binos are 100% made in Japan.
Price. By using highly efficient production methods, Vixen is able to manufacture the Apex Pro for a relatively low price compared to other binoculars of similar performance.
Errol Mason Hunt Smart® Approved. Due to their high level of optical performance, robust build quality and proven reliability, I have no hesitation in giving the Apex Pro series my unqualified Hunt Smart® Antler Tick of Approval.

Vixen Success Story- Geoff McClure
After comparing all the leading brands highly successful sambar hunter Geoff McClure chose the Vixen Apex Pro 8x42 Binoculars.

On Friday evening and overnight it rained fairly heavily. I put up a couple of sambar on Friday but nothing I wanted to take. Saturday was clear but cold and very windy. I hunted up high in some steep gullies looking for a stag sheltering out of the wind. Whilst glassing an opposite face with my Vixen Apex Pro 8 x 42 binos I spotted a large sambar stag well below me on the other side of the gully at a range of about 250yds. It was standing still facing away from me on a bit of bare ground - a bed I presumed – and it was unaware of my presence. There was a strong crosswind so I used a tree as a rest. At the shot the stag disappeared from view but I heard the bullet hit and found it dead down at the creek.
Without my Vixens I probably wouldn’t have seen that stag. I have been using Vixens for several years now after discovering their performance was right up there with other leading brands but at a fraction of the price.
